Obituary for Rex R. Walters Rex R. Walters, 69, of Freelandville, IN, passed away Tuesday October 29, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital with his family at his side. He was born May 2, 1944 in Washington, IN the son of Norman H. & Thelma Yocum Walters. He was a graduate of Freelandville High School and was awarded a scholarship to Oakland City College for his baseball talents. He graduated from Oakland City College with a bachelors� degree in business. He was a former manager of Sherwin Williams Paint Store in Vincennes and more recently worked for Vincennes Industrial Supply and Kwick Kleen. He was a former member of Freelandville Methodist Church, served on the Freelandville Housing Authority and was a self-taught musician. He was an accomplished guitarist having played lead guitar for the Corvette�s, Free Rein and Reunion. He also played the keyboards and played in other rock & roll bands in the area. He would go to Fox Ridge Manor and play for the residents as a one-man entertainment show. He held his Real Estate Salesman and Locksmith licenses. He married Mary T. Weber on August 20, 1966 and they made their life together for 47 years. They were devoted to each other as they were devoted to their children, grandchildren and their many friends. He loved to travel with his family to anywhere they wanted to go. He is survived by his wife, Mary T. Walters, their daughters, Julie A. Guy of Washington, IN and Teresa M. Sayre, and her husband Mike of Liberty Township, Ohio. Their grandchildren, Shelby L. Stanley, and her husband Matt, Logan M. Guy, Olivia M. Sayre and Delaney K. Sayre who will greatly miss him. Also surviving a brother, Paul Walters, and his wife Ann of Freelandville, IN, a nephew Tom Walters, and his wife Deb and a niece, Debbie Koberlein, and her husband Joe, along with several great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of his Life will be conducted Saturday November 2, 2013 at 8:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Mike McClure officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the time of services at 8:00 PM . Memorial contributions can be made to his family to be used to promote music education.
