Obituary for Richard W. Vieck
Obituary for Richard W. Vieck Richard W. Vieck, 89, of Vincennes, passed away Sunday night at the Good Samaritan Hospital with his family at his bedside. He was born November 30, 1926 in Vincennes the son of Chris and Cecilia Kaiser Vieck. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and was a graduate of Purdue Agriculture Course . He served his country in the Merchant Marine during WW II from 1944 until the end of the war. On November 6, 1948 he married Mary J. Valley and they made their life together for nearly 68 years. He was a lifelong farmer, devout catholic, devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed traveling, vacations and taking his grandchildren fishing. He was active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Right to Life, Heart to Heart and Church Teaches Forum. He served on the Election Board, Vincennes Township Trustee Advisory Board, founding member of the Vincennes Township Fire Department, and was awarded the Brute Society Medal in 1999. His deeply rooted faith guided his life and inspired the love and dedication he had to his family and farm. He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Mary J. Vieck, their children, Barbara Miller of Charleston, SC, David Vieck, and his wife Susie of Vincennes, Carol Hageman, and her husband Bernie of Phoenix, AZ, Terry Vieck, and his wife Kari of Vincennes and Jackie Richardville, and her husband Bob of Vincennes. His grandchildren, Tracy Howell, Jennifer Weber, Chris Miller, Julie Jung, Emily Harts, Erin Hageman, Craig Vieck, Taylor Vieck, Katie Vieck, Kelly Vieck, Valerie Rusch, Matt Richardville, Adam Richardville and Kyle Richardville. He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren, his brothers, Maurice Vieck, Joseph Vieck and Dr. Charles Vieck D.D.S. and his wife Mary Lou, his sisters, Agnes Ottensmeyer, Rita Primus and Loretta Holl all of Vincennes, IN. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard F. �Ricky� Vieck, his parents and two brothers Fr. Hilary Vieck and Fr. Larry Vieck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck, Fr. Gary Kaiser and Deacon Earl Ruppel officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday April 28, 2016 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 3 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Vincent DePaul or for the celebration of the mass.
