Obituary for Royice Lee Mercer
Royice Lee Mercer, 78, of Vincennes, passed away Tuesday morning at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN. Royice was born July 5, 1940 in Moultrie, GA, the son of Troy and Rosalee Wooten Mercer. Royice served his country in the U.S. Army for over 20 years where upon retirement he moved to live with his children. He attained the rank of Sergeant 1st class where he served as a green beret sniper. He served tours in Vietnam, Iran and Iraq. He was a member of the American Legion.
Royice is survived by his daughter, Anna Collins, and her husband Eric of Vincennes, IN, Richard Mercer, and his wife Janie of Altus, OK, Andy Mercer, and his wife Linda of Apopka, FL and Ed Mercer of El Paso, TX. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Private services were held. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Mercer family during their time of loss.
