Sandra "Sandy" Lane, 69, of Vincennes, passed away Friday April 28, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Sandy was born October 9, 1953 in Lawrenceville, IL the daughter of Dean Walker and Bessie Lawson Jones. She was a graduate of Lawrenceville High School and began a career as a waitress for 25 years at Syd's Place and then became a bookkeeper/secretary with Shanklin CPA accounting services. She married R. Joseph “Joe” Lane on January 13, 1973 and they made their life together for over 50 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moose, Eagles and enjoyed refining her cooking over the years. She enjoyed planning big meals for her family and friends and cooking everything from scratch. She was a loving helpful person who enjoyed everyone she met. She never met a stranger, listening to their problems and looking to help any way she could.
Sandy is survived by her husband, R. Joe Lane, children, Angela G. Robinson, Adam J. (Jamie) Lane, Dean E. (Shelly) Lane and Jeff R.(Lacey) Lane all of Vincennes, IN. Their grandchildren, Janele Robinson, Olivia Robinson, Emma Robinson, Kaytlin Lane, Walker Lane, Karley Lane, Ellie Lane and Siah Price. Great grandchildren, Lillian Robinson and Brynlee Chapman. She is also survived by her brother, Andy Walker of Smyrna, TN, sisters, Sharon (John) Crites of Lawrenceville, IL, Susan (Loren) Ridge of Vincennes, IN, Beth Ann (Joe) Broady of Lawrenceville, IL, Patty (Rick) Ash of Smyrna, TN and Rhonda (Robert) Snow of Robinson, IL.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home on Tuesday May 2, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM; Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the donor’s charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist Sandy’s family during their time of loss.
