Obituary for Sharon L. Smith


Sharon L. Smith, 72, of Vincennes, passed away Saturday February 22, 2025 at her home with her companion at her bedside. Sharon was born January 31, 1953 in New Albany, IN the daughter of Arthur and Annabelle Eaton Foster, the 10th of 13 children. She formerly worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital and various places the last being Back Room 5. She and her companion of over 25 years, Leon Speth, enjoyed the simple things. They liked to fish, hunt and just being together. Sharon devoted her life to caring for her family. loved to cook and feeding everyone. Sharon was a lifetime member of the VFW. She formerly was married to Stanley Clampitt and later to Rick Smith.


She is survived by her companion, Leon Speth, a son, Stuart Clampitt of Crawfordsville, IN. Her sisters, Sandra Greentree of Bicknell, IN and Suzanne Tapley of Vincennes, IN. Several neices, nephews and grat nephews and neices.


Sharon was preced in death by her parents, 9 brothers, Isaac, Raymond, Jim, Ted, Gene, Gary, Charles, Danny and Jack Foster. A sister also preceded her, Mettie Rhodes.


A gathering to celebrate her life will be held Sunday March 2, 2025 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Sharon's memory can be made to the donor's charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Sharon's family during their time of loss.
