Shirley J. Howder, 82, of Vincennes, passed away Tuesday March 12, 2019 at the Gentle Care Nursing Center with her daughters at her bedside. Shirley was born March 31, 1937 in Vincennes the daughter of Darvin F. and Goldie Faye Peach Howder. She was a bartender at various establishments in Vincennes. she attended various Church groups and attended Bunker Hill Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Jody Miles of Vincennes and Tyra Knotts, and her husband Jack of Vincennes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Keith Childers, Kyle Childers, Cody Miles, Wendy Miles, Ben Ford, Brad Ford, and Sandy Knotts. Her great grandchildren, Noah Childers, Brant Bilskie, Trevor Bilskie, Dusty Bilskie, Reece Ford, Ragen Ford, Halle Ford, Cash Ford, Mia Ford, Shaleigh Followell and River Followell. Her sisters, Ester Stewart of Vincennes and Helen Carson of Vincennes.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bud Howder, and 5 sisters, Dee Parker, Katie Holloway, Lou Brown, Fern Miles and Dixie Howder.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday March 16, 2019 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Howder officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery privately.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with the expenses of her last illness.
