Obituary for Stephen J. "Joe" Cary
Stephen J. "Joe" Cary, 65, of Vincennes, IN passed away Wednesday at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN after a sudden illness with his family at his side. Joe was born July 10, 1956 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Max E. and Norma Steimel Cary. He was a graduate of Rivet High School, Vincennes University and served this community as a Vincennes Police Officer. He owned Guy Pest Control and held membership at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eagles and the FOP. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved telling jokes of all kinds no matter where he was. He married Cindy Daniel on June 10, 2000 and they made their life together for over 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Cary, their children, Jason Cary, and his wife Lindsey of Greenfield, IN, Joshua "Rudy" Cary, and his wife Lindsay of Shelburn, IN, Garett Devers, and his wife Alexandra of Vincennes, IN, Alyssa Collins, and her husband Wade of Vincennes, IN and Audra Benskin of Vincennes, IN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, his brothers and sister, William “Bill” Cary and his wife Debra of Bruceville, IN Michael “Mitch” Cary and his wife Barb of Vincennes, IN, Carol Hunckler and her husband Bryan of Vincennes, IN, Brian Cary and his wife Patty of Vincennes, IN and Paul Cary and his wife Shelly of Vincennes, IN. several uncles and aunts and many, many cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Norma Cary.
A gathering to celebrate Joe's life will be announced at a later date per his request. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Joe's family with his care.
