Obituary for Steven L. Harper Sr. Steven L. Harper Sr, 59, of Vincennes, passed away February 6, 2014 at 9:35 AM at the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born September 26, 1954 in Vincennes, IN the son of Walter L. Sr. and Josephine Twitty Harper. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Oakland City College with a bachelors degree in Law Enforcement. He was an forklift operator for Packaging Corp. of America until his retirement. He was a member of Bunker Hill Baptist Church and attended St. John Catholic Church. He was past president of Local 7-0555, the Lawrenceville Moose, VFW, American Legion and served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, mushrooming, spending time with his family and friends. He loved a good joke and to tease anybody he could. He is survived by his wife, Rose Bezy Abel Harper, children, Shane & Sara Abel of Fritchton, IN, Holly & Bill Martin of Vincennes, Cory Abel and Nicole Boger of Vincennes and Justin Harper of Decker, IN. Grandchildren, Colton Harper, J.R. Castillo, Ethan Abel, Kenzie Abel, Ahlya Abel, Noah Abel, Kelsey Beaman, Macy Beaman and he was excited by the expected arrival of a new grandson, River A. Abel. He is also survived by his brothers, Walt Harper, and his wife Brenda of Vincennes, Lyman Morris, and his wife Nancy of Monroe City, IN, his sisters, Sherry Groves and Deb Fields both of Vincennes. He had a special relationship with his sisters and brothers in law, Karen Day, Kathy & John Thompson, Mary & Jody Hall, Tom & Mary Bezy, Ed & Nancy Bezy, Patricia Blackburn, Leona & Denny Kotter, Mark & Karen Bezy, Paul and Jacqueline Bezy and Martha & Bill Land. He was preceded in death by a son Steven Harper Jr, his parents and a sister Ruth McCord. Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday January 11, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Howder officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his son in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Monday. Memorial contributions can be made to GSH Cancer Center or the Vincennes Pet Port through the funeral home
