Obituary for Sylvester A. “Junior” McCoy Jr.
Sylvester A. “Junior” McCoy Jr., passed away Friday January 11, 2019 at his residence. Junior was born August 15, 1940 in Monroe City, IN. the son of Sylvester A. Sr. and Marie Nora (McCoy) McCoy. He was a graduate of Monroe City High School and he formerly managed the Kocolene Gas Station in Vincennes for over 35 years. He was the retired owner of McCoy Grocery and Deli (Formerly Shacks Grocery) for 20 years. He married Phyllis A. Eisenhut on Oct 20, 1962 and they made their life together for over 51 years until her death on April 15, 2014.
Junior is survived by his children, Lisa Cates of Newburgh, IN, Sylvester A. (Allen) McCoy III of Vincennes, IN, Kim Huber, and her husband Sid of Vincennes and Greg McCoy, and his wife Amy of Vincennes, IN. 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Sylvia Hitt, and her husband Jack of Vincennes, IN and Margaret McRae, and her husband Ron of Bruceville, IN.
Junior was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a sister in infancy, Patricia Ann McCoy.
Funeral services will be celebrated Saturday January 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Ron Barns officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the McCoy Oak Leaf II cemetery near Monroe City, IN. The family will receive friends on Saturday January 19, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the time of services at 2:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Good Samaritan Cancer Center or Good Samaritan Hospice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Junior’s family during their time of loss.
