Obituary for Thelma M. Carter Thelma M. Carter, 80, of Bicknell, passed away Saturday November 9, 2013 at 4:50 PM at the Freelandville Community Home. She was born February 23, 1933 in Oaktown, IN the daughter of George E. & Dolly Van Patton Archer. She married George Carter in February of 1950 and they made their life together until his death in 1986. She worked as a clerk in the deli department at the Odon IGA. She was a member of the Hymera Baptist Church and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, Robert E. Carter, and his wife Pam of Tallapoosa, GA, Chester E. Carter, and his wife Jan of Edwardsport, IN, Donald H. Carter, and his wife Ginny of Bicknell, IN, Billy Carter, and his wife Pam of Bicknell, IN and Harold L. Carter of Bicknell, IN. Her grandchildren, Robert E. Carter Jr., Chet Carter, Johnny Bob Carter, Eric Carter, David Carter, Joshua Carter, Karen Mincey, Stacy Feaster, Melissa Carpenter, Andrew Carter and Brittany Carter. She is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren with another expected anytime and a great-great granddaughter born on November 10, her brothers, Bill Archer, and his wife Brenda of Cannelburg, IN and Harley Archer of Washington, IN, her sister, Lucille Boyll, and her husband Loren of Hymera, IN and her step sister, Georgia Black of Oaktown. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Harry Carter in 1998, her parents, a twin sister, Selma Faith, 4 brothers, Harry, Danny, Harvey and Paul Archer. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday November 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell with Pastor Glenn Archer officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral and prior to the services on Thursday. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Freelandville Community Home.
