Obituary for Thomas J. Ruppel
Thomas J. Ruppel, 87, of Vincennes passed away Friday March 22, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Tom was born December 12, 1931 in Vincennes the son of Lawrence P. and Annis B. Carie Ruppel. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He married Margaret J. “Peg” Fredrick and they made their life together until her death on May 3, 2007. Tom and Margaret owned T&M Trucking and T&M brokerage. He was a member of the Old Cathedral, American Legion, 40 et 8, VFW, Moose and the Harmony Society. He and his grandson started A to Z Truck and Trailer Service.
Tom is survived by his grandson, Brad Ruppel, and his wife Vonda of Vincennes, his great grandchildren, Paige Ruppel and Trevor Ruppel and his wife Christie both of Vincennes and his great-great grandson Jaxston Ruppel. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, James Ruppel of Vincennes, Ronnie Ruppel and his wife Mary Jo of Stendal, IN, Mike Ruppel, and his wife Angel of Linton, IN, Barb Lindsey of Vincennes, IN, Patricia “Pat” Elkins of Vincennes, IN and Nancy Carter of Vincennes, IN.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Ruppel, their son, David Joe Ruppel, his parents, Lawrence and Annis Ruppel, a brother, Bill Ruppel and two sisters, Rosemary Cardinal and Geraldine “Gerry” Westfall.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday March 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Deacon Earl Ruppel officiating at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday March 29, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home and prior to the services on Saturday. He will be laid to rest next to his wife and son in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Gravesite military honors will be conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad. Memorial contributions can be made to Shiners’ Hospitals for Children or GSH Hospice. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist the Ruppel family during their time of loss.
