Obituary for Timothy “Tim” Risley
Timothy “Tim” Risley passed from this life August 2, 2019 at Gateway Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He suffered a stroke and a brain aneurysm on July 26, 2019 from which he did not recover. Tim was born September 11, 1968, the son of Greg and Mary Risley in Vincennes. He graduated from North Knox High School in 1986 and from Vincennes University with a degree in Computer Science. Tim loved computers and started learning his craft with an old Radio Shack computer. He always had to figure out how things worked so even as a young child he would take apart toys to see “how they worked”. This inquisitive mind served him well in a new field called computer science. The most important event of his life was the birth of his daughter, Madison on December 8, 2000. He devoted his life to being the best father he could be and taught Madison the value of hard work, to be confident and secure in yourself and how to have fun. He said upon her graduation in May of 2019, “I have done my job and made Madison who she is today”.
Tim enjoyed life to the fullest. He always enjoyed his hobbies, his truck, camper, motorcycle and traveling with Madison. Most recently he and Madison were certified in scuba diving. Tim was also dedicated to his job at University of Southern Indiana. His love of computers and his diligence in always training and learning new things made him an active part of the USI computer tech team.
Tim will be sadly missed by his daughter, Madison of Evansville, IN, his mother, Mary Risley of Newburgh, IN and his father, Greg Risley of Bicknell, IN, a brother Chris Risley, and his wife, Jessie of Lula, GA and his nieces, Meghan, Abby, Cecilia and Miranda Risley, his devoted friend, Sandy Kerns Merry of Monroe City, IN and his many other friends and relatives.
The University of Southern Indiana in Evansville is planning an event in his honor on Wednesday August 7, 2019 at the Business and Engineering Building from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CST at the university.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 8, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell, IN. He will be laid to rest on the Risley Family Plot in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Please join us in this remembrance of Tim and in his honor, no coats or ties. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has asked that contributions be made to Madison’s Education Fund since she will be attending University of Southern Indiana this fall semester. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Homes is honored to assist the Risley family during their time of loss.
