Obituary for Vern Stanley Provines
Obituary for Vern Stanley Provines Vern Stanley Provines, 75, of Bicknell, IN passed away Friday July 26, 2013 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born September 18, 1937 in Sumner, IL the son of Earl & Gladys Bowen Provines. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and during his working years he was a welder at Vincennes Steel. He married Rosa Lee Chanley on March 16, 1957 and they made their life together for 56 years. He was a member of the Freelandville Christian Church and enjoyed woodworking and cabinetry. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosa Lee Chanley, their children, Verna Lee Jones, and her husband Louis of Platte City, MO, Stanley Provines, and his wife Lisa of Bicknell, IN, Rita Kay Summers of Bicknell and Bryan Scott Provines, and his wife Lynita of Plainville, IN. There are 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Ferne Stone of Bridgeport, IL, Condon Provines of El Paso, TX, Larry Provines, and his wife Patty of Vincennes, IN, Mary Ann Dove of Freelandville, IN and Wilbur Provines, and his wife June of Salem, IN. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a great grandchild, his parents, 4 brothers, Roy E. Provines, Robert Provines, Donald Provines and Cecil Wayne Provines. Funeral Services will be celebrated Tuesday July 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Freelandville Christian Church with Pastor Larry Schultz officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Freelandville Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Monday July 29, 2013 at the church and prior to the services on Tuesday. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Freelandville Christian Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel.
