Obituary for William C. McRae William C. McRae, 88, of Vincennes, passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born October 16, 1925 in Plainville, IN the son of Jesse & Bessie Spaulding McRae. He was a graduate of Decker High School, where he played basketball and after gradation he served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy on LSM 285. He was engaged in the battle of Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Guam. He married Marie McRae on June 28, 1952 and they made their life together for 61 years until her death in December of 2013. He was a member of Old Cathedral Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion, 40et8 and was proud that he served his country. He is survived by a granddaughter, Linda M. Stearns and her husband Jon J of West Jordan, UT, a great grandson, George Stearns of West Jordan, UT. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews who he took great pride in. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Marie McRae, his Parents, and 12 Brothers and Sisters. Funeral services will be celebrated Saturday July 12 at11:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Fr. John Schipp officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Gravesite military rites will be presented by the All Weather Firing Squad. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Old Cathedral Maintenance Fund.
