Obituary for William E. "Bill" Acobert
William E. "Bill" Acobert, 90, passed away Friday September 3, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 13, 1930 in Vincennes IN, the son of Joseph and Lucille Bowman Acobert. He married Ann Hoke on February 18, 1955 and they made their life together for 66 years. Bill was a graduate of Decker High School and he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a letter carrier for the postal service for 34 years and after retirement he worked at Jewels Florist for 14 years. Bill was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years Ann Acobert, their children Steve Acobert and his wife Michelle of Edinburgh, IN, Lori Wissel and her husband Jeff of Vincennes, IN, and Lisa Acobert and her husband David Reynolds of Indianapolis, IN. His grandchildren Tonya Mills (Mike), Leah Match (Mike), Kara Rodgers, Connor Wissel, Austin Acobert and Noah Acobert. Great grandchildren Cadence Mills and Susie Cates. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Lou Sievers of Vincennes and Jane Bruner of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Joe and Jack Acobert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday September 7, 2021 at at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Thomas Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from to at Sacred Heart Church. Memorial contribution can be made in his memory to Southern Care Hospice, 12251 U.S. 41 suite C, Evansville IN, 47725.
