Obituary for Wilma Jean Mattox
Wilma Jean (Shackelford) Mattox, 87, formerly of Vincennes, passed away at the home of her daughter in Evansville, IN Sunday July 26, 2020. Jean was born September 3, 1932 in Vincennes the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude E. Gott Shackelford. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and worked in the health care as a LPN. She married Richard Mattox and he preceded her in death June 23, 2010. She attended New Beginnings Lakeside Fellowship Church in Evansville and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Tony Caballero, and his wife Jeannie of Byers, TX, Cathy Donaldson Sapp of Evansville, IN, Bruce Aiken, and his wife Denise of Vincennes, IN and Nannette Perkins, and her husband Steve of Vincennes, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Caballero (Meredith), Jeremiah Caballero (Cheryl), Jessica Gibson (Jeremy), Richard Donaldson, Matt Donaldson, Dan Aiken, Cole Aiken, Brandon Aiken (Corie) and Sarah Perkins, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and all who knew her.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Mattox, her parents, Arthur and Gertrude Shackelford and a brother Ramon Shackelford.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday August 1, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Horner officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 AM until the time of services. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard Mattox in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the donor’s charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Wilma Jean Mattox’s family during their time of loss.
