Wilma R. (Kroeger) Thorne, 93, formerly of Vincennes passed away in Conyers, GA on December 2, 2020. Wilma was born August 10, 1927 in Vincennes the daughter of Henry E. and Catherine Richardville Kroeger. She was a graduate of St. Rose Academy and she married Chester Thorne on March 10, 1947 and they made their life together in Rochester, IN until his death on January 8, 1984. She returned to Vincennes in 1993 and moved to Conyers, GA. She worked at Federal - Mogul Corp, Rochester, IN and worked at Green Thumb here in Vincennes. She formerly was a member of the Old Cathedral here in Vincennes, IN.
She is survived by six of her 10 children, Cheryl Wright of Conyers, GA, Jacqueline Lukac of Roscoe, IL, David Thorne of Murphy, NC, Debra Simpson of Monticello, IN, Thomas Thorne of Surprise, AZ, and Victor Thorne of Reno, NV. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Her brother, Bernard Kroeger of Vincennes, IN, her sisters, Marietta Belcher of Escondido, IA, Phyllis Grothaus of Cedar Lake, IN and Donna Almy of Vincennes, IN.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Thorne, her children, Steven Thorne, Judith Callahan, Chester Thorne II, and W. Kathryn Thorne. She was also preceded by her parents, Henry and Catherine Kroeger, a brother, Henry Kroeger and a sister, Marjorie Dasch.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, funeral services will be conducted for her family in private. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Old Cathedral or the donor’s charity of choice.
