Obituary

Obituary for Carol F. Murphy Carol Faye Murphy, 80, formerly of Bicknell, passed away November 12, 2011 in Casper, Wyoming from complications from surgery. She was born November 2, 1931 in Bicknell the daughter of Jennie Hester (Strain) O�Dell and Leo O�Dell. She attended Bicknell High School and the Indiana Business College. She married Robert E. Murphy and they made their life together for 48 years until his death in 1999. Carol was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She played the piano in church services and played the bass in several bands in the 50�s & 60�s. She was a strong fearless woman who loved to bake, sew and passed that love along to her family members. She enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the Vincennes Genealogy Club; she served on the cemetery board, held memberships in the American Legion & VFW Auxiliaries, Women�s Democrat Club, North Knox Social Ministries. She was a member of the St. Anthony�s Catholic Church in Casper, WY and formerly a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Bicknell. She formerly served as Vigo Township Trustee and she received the Brute Award for her service and devotion to the church. She is survived by her children, Kathy Trowbridge, and her husband David of Owensville, IN, Becky Walsh, and her husband Galen of Casper, WY, Janice Steiner and her husband Dan of Casper, WY, Linda O�Hara and her husband Carl of Bicknell, IN, Gary Murphy, and his wife Cathy of Bicknell, IN, Dee Ann Kilburn of Ellettsville, IN and Jennifer Pitts of Vincennes, IN. 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, a sister Betty Thuis of Bicknell, IN and a sister in law, Diane Horrall, and her husband Abner of Oaktown, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a twin brother Carl O�Dell, brothers, John O�Dell and Doyle O�Dell, sisters Doris Luking and Mary Ellen Wiegman. A granddaughter, Jonelle Walsh a grandson, James Trowbridge and a great grandson also preceded her in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday November 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Gries officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 1:00 PM where gravesite services will be conducted. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Friday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church or the North Knox Social Ministries.
