Dr. Charles “Charlie” Vieck DDS, 93, of Vincennes passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026. Born June 17, 1933, to Christopher and Cecilia Vieck, Charlie attended St. Thomas Elementary School and Central Catholic High School, where he was a three-year varsity basketball player. Following graduation in 1951, he received a basketball scholarship to St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN. After three years of pre-dental studies, he entered Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1954. He opened his Vincennes dental practice in 1959 serving patients for 56 years.

On June 22, 1957, Charlie married Mary Lou Richardville, at Sacred Heart Church. Charlie credited Mary Lou’s support making his many volunteer and philanthropic contributions possible. Mary Lou preceded him in death on November 24, 2025.

Dedicated to his profession, Charlie was involved with the Knox County Dental Association, First District Dental Association, Indiana State Dental Association, American Dental Association, and Indiana Academy of General Dentistry, serving as president of the latter. Passionate about education, Charlie served 16 years on the Vincennes Community School Board and was a past president of the Indiana School Board Association. He was instrumental in facilitating the construction of the new Lincoln High School, dedicated in 1981. His community involvement also included the Vincennes Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge No. 291, Knox County Area Planning Commission, and Knox County Quail Unlimited.

Charlie is survived by their three children: Nancy Levinson, Scottsdale, AZ; Jeff (Terri Lynn) Vieck, Vincennes, IN; and Lisa (Randy) Combs, Milan, IN; five grandchildren: Logan (Hailee) Vieck, Plainfield, IN; Connor (Ashley) Vieck, Howard City, MI; Cameron Combs (Milan, IN); Suzanne (Christian) Liebman, Phoenix AZ; and Marisa (Joshua) Allanson, Fishers, IN. And three great-grandchildren, Jones and Luke Vieck (Hailee and Logan) and Sloane Louise Liebman (Suzanne and Christian).

Charlie was preceeded in death by his parents, five brothers, Maurice, Richard (Dick), Joe, Father Hillary and Father Larry as well as three sisters, Agnes Ottensmeyer, Rita Primus and Loretta Holl. He had 34 nieces and nephews.

Beyond his professional and civic accomplishments, Charlie enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and daily card games with his longtime friends. His Catholic faith remained central to his life, and attending daily Mass was a cherished tradition.

He lived life to its fullest, treasuring friendships, family gatherings, and especially the holidays spent surrounded by those he loved.

Visitation will begin at 10 o’clock followed by a mass celebrated at 1 o’clock on Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle with Father Tony Ernst officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, Little Sisters of the Poor (Indianapolis); and the Cameron Combs Trust. Memorial masses are welcome as well.
