Obituary

Harold Wayne Hensley went to be with his heavenly father on June 6, 2022 in Evansville, IN surrounded by his family. Harold was born to Glenn and Dora Hensley (Rader) on October 24,1943 in Vincennes, IN. Harold was a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School and after graduation served his country in the United States Army. After his service Harold graduated from Vincennes University. Harold worked for Universal Scientific for many years before returning to college and graduating with a degree from Indiana State University- Evansville. Harold became a police officer, first with the Knox County Sheriff Department as a Deputy, then as an officer with the Vincennes University Police Department, serving as Chief of Police for 11 years. During his time at Vincennes University , Harold taught law enforcement. After retiring from VU in 2003 Harold used his love of service to serve as the Knox County Veterans Affairs Officer for over 15 years. Harold was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and 40 et 8, holding both local and state offices. Harold was also a member of the Vincennes Masonic Lodge #1, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Fraternal Order of Police, Bicknell Elks, and Harmony Society. Harold is survived by his loving wife Peggy. His sons, Matthew Hensley and his wife Jennifer, Harold "Rusty" Hensley II, and Mark Hensley and his companion Amanda Miller. His grandchildren are Allison Hensley, Madison Hensley, Marydith Hensley, Dimitrios Hensley, and Harold Hensley III, Gunner Miller and a great grandchild Josie Blaize. His brothers Donald Boger, Rick Boger and Jack Boger and a sister Donna McGregor. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Noble "Red" Boger, Bill Boger, Ron Boger, and 2 brothers in infancy, his sisters Georgia Mae Crosslin, Bette Zeller and Marilyn Boger. Funeral services will be celebrated Friday June 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Duesterberg- Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Barnes officiating. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday June 9, 2022 at Duesterberg- Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in Harold's memory to the Harmony Scholarship or the Fraternal Order of Police. Duesterberg- Fredrick Funeral home is honored to assist Harold's family during their time of loss.
