James L. Brewer, 79, of Bicknell, IN passed away at his home Thursday with his loving wife by his bedside. Jim was born October 2, 1943 in Vincennes the son of Lewis Brewer and Helen Vash Brewer Carrico. He was a graduate of Bruceville High School. After high school, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He began a career working as a Carman with CSX Railroad until his retirement. He married Beverly Cooper on April 5, 1975 and they made their life together for nearly 48 years. He was a member of the French Club, Bruceville Rod and Gun Club, Tin Can Sailors Organization of Sailors who served on Destroyers during their service to the country. He attended Bicknell United Methodist church with his wife.

Jim is survived by his wife, Beverly Brewer, their son's James E. Brewer of Bicknell, IN, Jonathan Brewer, and his wife Holly of Vincennes and Joseph K. Brewer of Vincennes. His grandchildren, Jonathan Roscoe Brewer, Miranda Lynn Brewer, Ziva Hope Brewer and Azlynn Kate Brewer. His mother in law, Betty Cooper of Bicknell, IN.

Jim was preceded in death by a son, Joshua O. Brewer, his parents, a brother, Walter Brewer and a sister Doris Jean Chung.

Funeral Services will be celebrated Thursday April 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Pastor Tucker Woodburn officiating. He will be laid to rest nest to his son Joshua at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 5, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
