John R. Faulkner II, 71, of Vincennes, passed away September 10, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville with his family at his bedside. John was born October 21, 1954 in Vincennes the son of John R and Elizabeth Dattilo Faulkner. John was a graduate of Rivet High School and Vincennes University. John spent the majority of his working career having attained the rank of detective with the Vincennes Police Department and later serving as a detective for Children and Family Services. He married Mary Catherine Painter on November 22, 1980 and they made their life together for nearly 46 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart/St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, FOP, coached JV softball at Lincoln High School, Basketball at Rivet Junior High and girl’s softball at Rivet High School. He enjoyed serving his community.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Faulkner, their children, JD (Meghan) Faulkner and Katie (Brandon) Hughes. Grandchildren, Callista Walls, Katelynn Walls, Carter Hughes, Sarabeth Faulkner, Jackson Faulkner and a great grandchild, Emeri. He is also survived by his brothers, Tony Faulkner and Doug Faulkner as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Caleb Scherzinger officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home where a procession to the church will depart at 12:40 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to Christian Education Foundation or to any local children sports programs.
