Obituary

Joseph Donald Furman, 58, of Bicknell, IN, passed away Saturday September 3, 2022 at his home with his family at his bedside. He was born January 3, 1964 in Dennison, TX, the son of Donald George and Annie Logue Furman. He was a 1982 graduate of Ouchita Parish High School in Monroe, LA and continued his academic journey at Vincennes University, Oakland City University and received his masters from the University of Evansville in Social Work. He worked for Blue River Services as a job/life coach and coached Special Olympics. He became a councilor at Oakland City University, was a patient advocate for the Vincennes DaVita Dialysis. His true passion was music. He loved volunteering at WRAY for the Saturday Country Gold Show. He enjoyed camping, his Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and the Atlanta Braves. He spoiled his two cats, Kallie and Karrie. He married Beth Ann Siscel on October 7, 1989 and they made their life together for nearly 33 years.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Ann Furman of Bicknell, IN, his mother, Annie Furman of Canton, GA, a brother, Christopher George Furman of Canton, GA. He especially loved his nieces, Jessica (Furman) Willis, Grayson Furman, Jessica Siscel, Anna (Siscel) Cattuzzo, Emily Siscel, Kaylyn Swartz and Ashlyn Swartz and a very special nephew, Michael Siscel. He is also survived by his father in law, James R. Siscel and his wife Patricia of Bicknell, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald G. Furman and his mother in law, Shirley A. Siscel.

Funeral Services will be celebrated Thursday September 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Bicknell United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Rundel officiating. He will be laid to rest in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel on Wednesday September 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and from 10:00 AM until the time of services at Bicknell United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the North Knox Social Ministries. Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel is honored to assist the Furman family during their time of loss.
