Joy D. Tooley, 74, passed away December 27, 2023 at 11:12 PM at Willow Manor Health and Rehabilitation. Joy was born December 29, 1948 in Freelandville, IN the daughter of Hilbert "Hib" and Helen Parham Kixmiller. Joy was a graduate of North Knox High School and continued her education receiving her Masters degree in Education. She taught at North Knox and Vincennes Community School Corp, she held memberships at St. John United Church of Christ, ABWA, Chicks of 66 and formerly Bethel Church in Freelandville, IN. She married K. Bruce Tooley on January 17, 1970 and they made their life together for over 48 years until his death on December 30, 2018.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Amy L. Tooley of Terre Haute, IN and her many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister in law, Bonnie Tooley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Tooley, her parents, Hib and Helen Kixmiller, and 2 brothers Tom Kixmiller and David Kixmiller.

Funeral services will be celebrated Saturday December 30, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Frische-Mouri officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to the time of services. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Bruce in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to AseraCare/Amedsys Hospice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Tooley family during their time of loss.
