Leona F. Lunsford, 79, of Vincennes passed away Monday July 24, 2023 at her home unexpectedly. Leona was born September 15, 1943 in Loogootee, IN the daughter of Peter Yarbrough and Leona S. Byers Richardson. She was a graduate of Loogootee High School and worked as a CNA at Crestview Nursing Home. She formerly worked at the B&L restaurant and was a former member of the Moose Aux. She married Donald Ellsworth Lunsford who preceded her in death in 1995.

Leona is survived by her children, Hide Lunsford, Carol Lunsford both of Vincennes and Peter Lunsford, and his wife Kelly of Bicknell, IN. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and a sister, Lois Jean Pierson of Port Charlotte, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday July 28, 2023 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Leona will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery next to her husband Donald Ellsworth Lunsford following the service. Memorial donations can be made to the family to assist with expenses of her final illness. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Leona's family during their time of loss.
