Marie A. Hayes, 93 of Bruceville, IN, passed away Saturday July 13, 2024 at 4:45 PM at Gentlecare Nursing Center. Marie was born March 13, 1931 in Vincennes the daughter of William and Gassina Doll Cardinal. She was a graduate of Oaktown High School and was married John F. Hayes Jr on June 20,1951 and they made their life together for 54 years until his death on October 25,2005. She held memberships in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, altar society and K of C Auxiliary. Marie was formerly employed at Essex Wire and Hamilton Glass Factories.

Marie is survived by her sons, Richard A. "Rick" (Theresa) Hayes of Mooresville, IN and Douglas E. "Doug" (Rebecca) Hayes of Bruceville, IN. Her beloved grandchildren, Joshua A. Hayes, Jeremy Hayes, Justin Glass and Christopher Hayes, her great grandchildren, Alina Hayes, Ariella Hayes, Danielle Hayes, Ellie Hayes, Arie Hayes, Hudson Hayes, Lillian Glass, Lincoln Glass, Grady Hayes, Kennedy Hayes, Esmae Michaels, Jade Swanson and is expecting two more great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William (Margaret) Cardinal Jr of Sullivan, IN and her sister, Vivian Ruth Lemme of Oaktown, IN.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Hayes Jr, her parents, William and Gussina Cardinal, a grandson, Aaron Hayes and a sister, Betty Jean Schutter.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday July 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Fr. Caleb Scherzinger officiating at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 17, 2024 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Hayes family during their time of loss.
