Obituary for Marilyn Kay Essig Marilyn �Kay� Essig, 76, of Vincennes, passed away at her residence on Monday, May 6, 2013. She was born on March 31, 1937 in Washington, IN, the daughter of Irene (Humbaugh) McLain and J. Gibbon Essig. She was a graduate of Plainville High School and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She began her nursing career in Newport Beach, CA and worked as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital and other local medical facilities in the Vincennes area for many years. Marilyn is survived by her companion Paul McCrary, her two children: Cathy Miller of Bellingham, Washington and Brad Miller and his wife Patricia of Short Hills, New Jersey and her two grandchildren, Xanthe Miller and Jasper Miller, for whom grandma meant the world. She is also survived by her sister Jo Ann Essig of Vincennes and her brother Jim Essig, and his wife, Patty of Carmel, IN. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. As per her wishes, a private memorial service will be conducted and she will be laid to rest near her mother in the Plainville Cemetery, Daviess County, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home.
