Mark W. Ashcraft, 62, of Vincennes, passed away August 4, 2026 in Indianapolis, IN at I U University Hospital with all of his family by his side. Mark was born February 4, 1964 in Lawrenceville, IL the son of Larry and Carolyn (Schultz) Ashcraft. He was a graduate of South Knox High School and continued his education at Vincennes University receiving a AS degree in construction trades technology. He began a career with Niehaus Lumber as a contractor sales representative for over 40 years. On April 29, 1995, he married Joyce Horsting and they made their life together for over 31 years. Mark was a member of St. John Catholic Church, former member of the KofC, an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and collecting guns. He enjoyed family gatherings, going to Alana’s softball games and to his grandson Kolt’s Tball games. In his spare time, he operated HC auto detailing.
Mark is survived by his wife, Joyce Ashcraft, children, Scott Kaiser, Karen Thomas and Alana (Nathan) Ashcraft all of Vincennes, IN. His grandchildren, Brayten Kaiser, Chase Kaiser, Gretchen Anderson, Alyssa Thomas, Kolt Hatfield, Charleigh Hatfield, Kruz Tislow and a great grandchild, Stella Anderson. He is also survived by his brother, Mike (Alicia) Ashcraft, sisters in law, Mae Horsting, Patty (Jerry) Melvin, a brother in law, Bob (Marilyn) Horsting and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Carolyn Ashcraft, a son, Walter Joe Kaiser Jr., a niece, Lindsey Fleck and several brothers and sisters in law.
Funeral services will be held August 10, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. The family will receive friend’s form 4:00 PM until the time of services at 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with Mark’s expenses of his last illness. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Ashcraft family during their time of loss.
