Marlin Dreiman, aka Chief, 4 Wheels, Flywheel, MD, The Tootsie Roll Man, Friend and Dad, a dedicated member of his community and devoted farmer, passed away on April 28, 2026 at the age of 88. Marlin was born on September 26, 1937 and was the oldest son of Donald A. and Vera Ann (Memering) Dreiman. He married Carol S. Kerns on August 13, 1961 and they made their life together for 64 years. They had one daughter, Cheryl S. (Monica Tomasik) Dreiman. Marlin was involved in many organizations throughout his life. WIN Energy REMC. Board of Directors 53 years, Hoosier Energy Board, South Knox School Board eight years, Graduate of Fritchton High School Class of 1957, Outstanding Fritchton Alumnus 2016, Knox County Soil and Water Conservation District Farmer of the Year 2015, Master Mason 548 Monroe City Lodge 49 years, 32▫ Scottish Rite, Vincennes York Rite and a Noble with Hadi Shrine.
Marlin was a friend you could count on and would help anyone. He had a rolodex of phone numbers in his little black book that he kept with him in his pocket. He was sure to collect friends along the way as he traveled far and wide in search of the perfect tractor or bull. He was known for his cowboy hats and boots, his love of Western TV shows, a slice of his wife’s apple pie (after telling her to “keep practicing”) and his ability of driving in reverse as fast as he could going forward. He always found the appropriate words of wisdom for any situation that would set you straight. Those that knew him would say that his gruff voice hid his heart of gold.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday May 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Frank Harmon officiating. Marlin will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday May 8, 2026 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to a local charity in his memory. He will be missed and fondly remembered by many, and his wife Carol and daughter Cheryl wish to thank everyone for their kindness and support. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Marlin’s family during their time of loss.
