Obituary for Edith M. �Combs� Wissel Edith M. �Combs� Wissel, 91, of Vincennes passed away Tuesday June 23, 2015 at 12:25 AM at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born December 29, 1923 in Vincennes, IN the daughter of Walter and Clara Johnson Combs. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and began a career as a telephone operator with Indiana Bell Telephone. She married Raymond Wissel on January 19, 1946 and the made their life together for 57 years until his death on November 16, 2003. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar Society and she was active in bunko for over 60 years with her telephone operators. She enjoyed being a homemaker, candy maker and seamstress making clothing for her family. She is survived by her children, Michael R. Wissel, and his wife Priscilla of Vincennes, Marilyn Sue Evans, and her husband Steve of Bloomington, IN and Peggy Jean Smith, and her husband Michael of Emison, IN. Her grandchildren, Michelle Crouch, Jennifer Evans Welsh, Elizabeth Evans Dyche, Gary Lee Woolard II and Mark Allen Clark Jr. Her great grandchildren, Charlie Darlene Crouch, Stevie Rae Crouch, Brent David Crouch, Seth Austin Crouch, Tyler Ray Woolard, Mason Xavier Dyche, Gabriel Aaron Dyche, Steven Thomas Welsh and Michael Thomas Welsh. She is also survived by 2 great-great grandchildren, Connor Jacob Brand and Jasper Woolard, her brothers, Tom Combs of Vincennes, Don Combs, and his wife Barb of Kennesaw, GA, sisters, Ethyl Small and M. Frances �Frankie� Swan both of Vincennes and several neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wissel, 3 brothers, Ray, Bob, Charles, a sister Maxine and several neices and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday June 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery next to her husband. The family will receive friends Thursday June 25, 2015 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
