Obituary for Basil �Brick� Teising Basil �Brick� Teising, 96, of Vincennes, passed away Monday December 9, 2013 at the Gentle Care Nursing Center. He was born May 10, 1917 in Thayer, IL the son of Charles & Ann Wilson Teising. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and he served his country during WW II as a U.S. Marine serving in the Pacific Theater where he was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart. After his return to Vincennes, he worked at Hamilton Glass as a dispatcher until his retirement and Vincennes University in their transportation department. In May of 1939, he married Dorothy Cardinal and they made their life together for over 72 years until her death in 2011. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifelong member of the Franklin Heights Christian Church. He was a devoted husband, father and caring, kind and loving gentle man. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Sue Teising of Vincennes, several nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, a nephew that they raised as their son, Rusty Cardinal, 4 brothers, Raymond, Charles, Otto and Gerald and 5 sisters, Olga, Audrey, Elizabeth, Olive and Marjorie. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday December 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor John Nappo officiating. He will be laid to rest with gravesite military honors presented by the All Weather Firing Squad next to his wife Dorothy in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Franklin Heights Christian Church.
