Obituary for Zelia Ann (Beltz) Deem
Zelia Ann (Beltz) Deem, 88, of Vincennes, passed away August 11, 2020 at 1:27 AM at Bridge Pointe Health Campus. Zelia was born August 7, 1932 in Vincennes the daughter of Frank and Helen Goss Beltz. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Vincennes University and began her career as a Public Account in Vincennes for over 52 years. She married Bernard E. Deem on April 15,1950 and they made their life together for 33 years until his death in May of 1983 . She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church/Old Cathedral, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, held memberships in the Indiana Society of Public Accounts, Business Professional Women’s Assn., American Legion Aux., Elks Aux, and the Knights of Columbus Aux.
Zelia is survived by her children, Bernard P. “Bernie” Deem and his wife Marcia of Noblesville, IN and Debra Deem Morris D.V.M. and her husband Michael Morris V.M.D. of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, Her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Torres (Eduardo), Suzanne Miksha (Andre), Bradford Morris, Gwendolyn Morris and Lauren Ditzel (Daniel). Her great grandchildren, Isabella Torres, Reece Torres, Charlotte Miksha and Virginia Miksha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard E. Deem, her parents, Frank and Helen Beltz, her sisters, Patricia Parish, Nancy Rains and Carmen Jean Harting.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday August 17, 2020 at 11:00 at the Old Cathedral with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with procession to the church for Mass to begin at 10:50 AM. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Rivet High School Rebuilding Fund. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Deem family during their time of loss.
