Obituary for Mary L. DeLisle
Mary L. DeLisle, 81, of Vincennes passed May 28, 2017 at 2:25 PM at the Willow Manor Nursing Center. Mary was born January 11, 1936 in Vincennes the daughter of Virgil and Ethel Ruehrshneck Madison. She formerly was manager of Lic’s Ice Cream and a member of the Old Cathedral Catholic Church. She was formerly active in the Women’s Bowling League having been city champs, she enjoyed playing Euchre and played with her friends for over 50 years. She collected Snowmen, Roosters, Birdhouses and Coke memorabilia until her son went to work for Pepsi. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed doing crafts, a voracious reader of the written word, volunteering her time at the Knox County Library and the election board. She married Edmond “Ed” DeLisle on June 21, 1957 and they made their life together for nearly 60 years.
She is survived by her husband, Edmond “Ed” DeLisle, children, Lisa Dobbs, and her husband Steve of Oklahoma City, OK, Donna Blackburn of Peru, IN, sons, Edmond DeLisle Jr of Vincennes and Mark DeLisle, and his wife Brenda of Vincennes. Grandchildren, Sara Powell, Bryan Dobbs, Will Blackburn, Ben Blackburn and Danielle Blackburn. Great Grandchildren, Ty Hoppe, Brooklyn Powell, Tel Gilbert, Bane Gilbert, Maddie Waxman, Lucas Blackburn, Charles Blackburn and her granddogs. She is also survived by her brothers, Jim Madison, and his wife Marge of Indianapolis, IN, Jerry Madison, and his wife Debbie of Bicknell, IN, her sisters, Pat Eagleson, and her husband Jerry of Vincennes and Terry Jones and her husband Ron of Vincennes, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bill Madison, 2 sisters, Jeanette and Betty Madison. A special Sister in Law, Ruth Madison also preceded her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday June 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday May 31, 2017 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Vincennes Pet Port or Knox County Library.
