Obituary for Douglas Edward Ostendorf
Douglas Edward Ostendorf passed away peacefully at his residence with his family at his side on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 4:00 a.m.
He was born in Vincennes, IN on February 16, 1959, the son of Francis and Blanche (Clark) Ostendorf. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School (1977) and Vincennes University. He worked for Jasper Engines and Vincennes Catholic Schools as the Athletic Director and was an IHSAA officiate for numerous soccer and basketball games. Doug married Debby (Pea) on October 20, 1984 and they made their life together for 32 years.
Doug enjoyed sports and refereeing. He was honored to be chosen to officiate at the IHSAA state soccer tournaments in 2010, 2012 and 2015. He loved collecting sweatshirts from various unique universities but Notre Dame was his favorite. He was an avid Notre Dame, Colts and Pacers fan. He enjoyed vacations with his family and especially loved his annual guy’s golf trip.
He is survived by his wife, Debby Ostendorf, their daughter Taylor Bittner, and her husband Luke, son Bryant Ostendorf and grandson Porter Bittner. His Parents, Francis and Blanche Ostendorf Vincennes, Brothers, Greg Ostendorf (Janet), Zionsville, IN; Matt Ostendorf (Marilyn), Newburgh, IN; Sisters, Debbie Goodner (Jack), Lebanon, TN; Denise Ostendorf, Zionsville, IN; Susan (Rick) Leonard, Vincennes, IN. and an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate his life will be conducted Saturday, June 3 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with his Uncle Deacon Earl Ruppel officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, June 2, at the Duesterberg Fredrick Funeral Home between 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Rivet Booster Club, Lincoln Booster Club or Vincennes Youth Soccer.
