Mary J. Thompson, 80, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Saturday February 6, 2021 at Methodist Village Senior Living Center, Lawrenceville, IL at 4:40 PM CST with her family at her bedside. Mary was born January 6, 1941 in Harrisburg, IL the daughter of Orville and Dimple Stuart Parks. She was a graduate of Harrisburg High School and she was a School Buss driver in Momence, IL for several years. She married Gary Thompson and he preceded her in death in 1997. She was a member of the Baptist faith, Moose Aux, active in various health originations. She was an outgoing personality, enjoying life to the fullest, going to various music venues with her family, traveling, gatherings with her family, her grandchildren and friends. She and her companion, James Bouvy spent over twenty years being together, attending St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Jim, fishing, traveling, dancing, spending the winters in South Texas and enjoying each other. They were the founding members of the Jim and Mary Fan Club and always had a joke or prank to pull.
Mary is survived by her companion, James E. Bouvy of Lawrenceville, IL, her sons, William “Willie” Thompson, and his wife Hortencia of Momence, IL, Brian M. Thompson, and his wife Roxanne of Orlando, FL and John David Thompson of Bourbonnais, IL. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren her brothers and sisters, Bill Parks, and his wife Carmen of Clarksville, TN, Richard Parks, and his wife Nome of Booneville, IN, Stuart Parks of Petersburg, IN, Gloria White of Mt. Carmel, IL and Jean Chesser of Oakland City, IN.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Thompson, her parents Orville and Dimple Parks, a great grandson, 3 brothers, James Parks, Larry Parks, Kenneth Parks and 2 sisters, Jane Rose Parks and Charlene Russet.
Funeral services was be celebrated at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. She was laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the donors charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Mary J. Thompson’s family during their time of loss.
