Obituary for Barbara J. Risch
Barbara J. Risch, 75, of Vincennes, passed away February 11, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Hospital with her family at her bedside. Barbara was born August 1, 1946 in Vincennes the daughter of George E. and Marguerite E. Coleman Huber. She was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School and worked at various jobs in the area. She continued after retirement working as a clerk at St. Vincent DePaul Store. Barbara was a member of the St John Catholic Church/St. Francis Xavier church, K of C Auxiliary, 40 et 8 Auxiliary and loved gardening, taking care of her flowers and boating with John and family.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Risch, her daughters, Misty L. Fisher and her husband Dave of Bruceville, IN and Penny Lewis, and her husband Daniel of Vincennes, IN. Her grandchildren, Nathan Reeves, Alexander Lewis, Benjamin Lewis, Lauren Lewis and Zachary Fisher. Her brothers, Paul Huber and his wife Mary Ann of LaPorte, IN, Mark Huber, and his wife Donna of LaPorte, IN, her sisters, Linda Howerton of Westville, IN, Norma Veden, and her husband Barry of Michigan City, IN, Georgia Kiekenapp of Norris, TN and Terry Jones and her husband Bill of Grayslake, IL.
Barbara was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hailey Reeves, her parents, George and Marguerite Huber and a sister in infancy, Sue Ellen Huber.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday February 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating at St. John Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Risch family during their time of loss.
