Obituary for Gerald C. Kohorst
Gerald C. Kohorst, 99, of Vincennes passed away Sunday May 8, 2022 at 12:30 AM. Gerald was born February 27, 1923 in Delphos, OH the son of Peter and Blanche Unland Kohorst. After graduation he began his career and was called to serve his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps having attained the rank of sergeant as an aircraft mechanic. He was stationed at George Field in Lawrence County where he met his wife, Miriam Bosecker and were married and began a new chapter in his life in Vincennes. He worked at Packaging Corp. having became head of maintaince until his retirement. Gerald held memberships in the St. John Lutheran Church and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Gerald is survived by his daughters, Dotty Mengedoht and Julie Wise and her husband John both of Vincennes, IN His grandchildren, Abby Mengedoht, Shane Cooper (Heather), Mike Caswell (Audi) and Sean Risley (Angel). Great grandchildren, Laney Cooper, Taylor Cooper, Ava Cooper, Sadie Cooper, Cooper Caswell, Cole Risley, Corbin Risley and was expecting another great grandchild soon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Kohorst, his parents, Peter Kohorst and Blanche Dray, his sisters, Norma Miller, Hilda Miller, Wilma Walters and a granddaughter, Alicia Caswell.
Services will be conducted on Friday May 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Maxwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the St. John Lutheran Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
