Obituary for Robert L. “Rob” Hendershot
Robert L. “Rob” Hendershot, 53, of Vincennes, passed away at his residence on Sunday September 10, 2017. Rob was born March 10, 1964 in Vincennes the son of J. R. “Bob and Bonnie Burgener Hendershot. Rob was a graduate of Lincoln High School and he worked as a stock clerk for Harold’s/JC’s for over 37 years. He attended St. John United Church of Christ, formerly was a Volunteer Firemen, avid NASCAR fan always rooting for Jeff Gordon. His love of the St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball, local sports, especially South Knox sports, and anything to do with stock car racing. He was an active volunteer at the Knox County Fair and he was a part time farm hand for Don Osborne Farm where he just loved being a part of the operations.
He is survived by his parents, J.R. “Bob” and Bonnie Hendershot, his brother, Mike Hendershot, and his wife Dina of Wheatland, IN. His Niece and Nephew, Kaylee Buchanan, and her husband Brock and Cody Hendershot, and his wife Megan. He was thrilled when his great nieces were born, Addylynn Buchanan, Lainey Buchanan and was expecting his third Hendershot niece. He is also survived by several other family members.
Funeral services will be celebrated at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home on Friday September 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lynn Marino officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday September 14, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Riley Children’s Hospital.
