Obituary for Donald H. Phillips
Donald H. Phillips, 93, of Bicknell, IN passed away Wednesday July 27 2022 at the Villages at Oak Ridge in Washington, IN with his family at his bedside. Don was born July 20, 1929 in Vincennes, IN the son of Roy and Myrtle Nightingale Phillips. He was a graduate of Bruceville High School and worked various jobs. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor for Asplundh tree service and worked as a supervisor at Septer Industries in Bicknell. He married Margie Jean Burton on July 16, 1951 and they made their life together for 71 years. He was a Christian who lived his faith in his daily life in the interaction he had with everyone he met. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Don is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margie Jean Phillips, their daughter, Louann Roark, and her husband Larry of Wheatland, IN, their grandsons, Jason (Janel) Phillips, Jonathan (Megan) Roark, Andy (Britni) Roark and Daniel (Jessica) Roark, their great grandchildren, Kyson Phillips, Dreyton Phillips, Kaleb Roark, Kalyn Roark, Avery Roark, Mason Roark, Corbin Roark and Layne Roark. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Alden (Barbara) Phillips of Bruceville, IN, Patricia (Lowell) Spitts of Vincennes, IN and Juanita Woosley of Indianapolis, IN.
Don was preceded in death by a son, Donald B. Phillips in September of
2021, his parents, his brothers, Marion Phillips, Robert Phillips, Bud Phillips and Max Phillips.
Funeral services will be celebrated at the gravesite in Asbury Chapel Cemetery on Wednesday August 3, 2022at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jarred Chattin officiating. He will be laid to rest in Asbury Chapel Cemetery. Military Gravesite Honors will be presented by the All Weather Firing Squad. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel is honored to assist Don’s family during their time of loss.
