Obituary for Richard Lee Cummings
Richard L. Cummings, 68, of Vincennes, IN passed away Monday August 1, 2022 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville with his family at his bedside. Richard was born June 18, 1954 in Vincennes the son of Chester Orville and Betty Lou Field Cummings. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and worked as a carpenter and retired from Overhead Door Corp. He married Beverly J. Wininger on September 18, 1992 and they made their life together for almost 30 years. Richard served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, being with his family and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife, Beverly Cummings, children, Kathy Sutton, Brittney Bland both of Vincennes and Ashley Allen of Bicknell, IN. 14 grandchildren and 11 Great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Wayne (Marcie) Cummings and Jack (Darlene) Cummings both of Vincennes, IN, Shelia Fields, Janet Alton, Linda Smith all of Vincennes and Nancy McClure of Evansville, IN. He will be missed by several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Cummings, a granddaughter, Journee Knepp, his parents and a brother, Robert Cummings.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday August 5, 2022 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a memorial service conducted at 7:00 PM with Rusty Thorne officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Project. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Cummings family during their time of loss.
