Barbara Ann Emmons, 70, of Vincennes, IN entered into eternal life on March 10, 2023 at 11:20 AM with her family at her bedside. Barbara was born July 26, 1952 in Clarksville, TN the daughter of James H. and Eunice Pauline Hawkins Keel. She married Kenneth E. Emmons on January 22, 1966 and they made their life together for over 57 years. Barbara worked at Essex Wire, was a member of 1st Church of the Nazarene, Vincennes and held memberships in the American Legion Auxiliary and a Life member of the Lawrenceville VFW. She was the driving force in the organization and fund raising for “Buddy Ball” for the special needs children in the area. She was an avid BINGO player going across the US to play, even in Las Vegas, NV. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Kenneth E. Emmons, children, Susie (Doug) Small of Bicknell, IN, Mercedes N. Wampler of Vincennes, Elizabeth (Nishaun) Thompson of Lawrenceville, IL, Michael A. (Bethany) Emmons of Vincennes and Andrew Emmons of Bicknell, IN. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Brendan McGuire, Austin Tapley, Caitlin Roberson, Donald A. Tapley Jr., Ariana Thorne, Alysse Ister, Briana Kaiser, Ava Emmons and Sophia Emmons. She also has 5 great grandchildren and is expecting another great grandchild. Her brothers, James R. (Dena) Keel of Collinsville, IL, Jerry (Sandy) Keel of Caseyville, IL and Eugene (Laura) Keel of Troy, MO. her sisters, Margie Stockley of McDonough, GA, Kathy (Tim) Stille of Alhambra, IL and Pauline Bannert of Mascoutah, IL.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Henry Keel, David Keel and a brother in infancy, James H. Keel Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday March 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Salter officiating. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
