Obituary for Clara S. Dawson
Clara S. Dawson, 92, of Vincennes passed away Wednesday March 22, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Clara was born August 8, 1930 in Birmingham, AL the daughter of Vincent and Frances Petruzella. She was a graduate of Birmingham High School and began her career as a sales consultant at Belk Department Stores. Clara was a member of St. John/St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she formerly was President of the Altar Society and various Church organizations. Clara loved to bake and cook. She was well known for her cookies and baking cakes and pies. She baked for various open house gatherings in the area and church bake sales. She married Charles Dawson on May 11, 1953 and they made their life together for 36years until his death on February 24, 1989.
Clara is survived by her son’s, Charles Dawson Jr., and his wife Nancy of Sellersburg, IN, Tom Dawson of Vincennes, IN, and Tony Dawson (Pam Belwood) of Monroe City, IN. Grandchildren, Taylor Dawson and Cody Dawson, a cousin, Nancy Herr and her special friends, Barb Williams, Chris Williams, Connie Williams, Quin Williams, Arlyna Wininger, Ray Wininger and Liam Wininger.
Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday March 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Charles Dawson Sr. in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the time of services. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Churches. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Dawson family during their time of loss.
