James R. Jobe Sr., 75, of Bruceville, IN, passed away Saturday April 1, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Jim was born July 22, 1947 in Vincennes the son of James F. and Helen M. Bateman Jobe. He was a 1965 graduate of Central Catholic High School and received an AS degree from Vincennes University. He was a life long car dealer and formerly worked at Knox County Sheriff's Department, Prestolite, Vincennes Manufacturing and retired from FIA. He was a lifelong Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served his country during the Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose and the Bruceville Rod and Gun Club. An avid sports enthusiast especially basketball, a fan of Indiana University and the Indiana Pacers. He coached 3rd and 4th grade basketball for 13 years having won many championships. He will be remembered as a quiet private man who had many friends and loved to go to auto auctions.
Jim is survived by his family, James R. Jobe Jr (Cheryl Eisenhut) of Bruceville, IN, Jeffrey D. Jobe of Bruceville, IN and Jayna (Rick Johnson) Carie of Vincennes, IN. His loving companion, Laura Bilskie of Bruceville, IN. His grandchildren, Brianna Jobe, Jacob Jobe, Jason Jobe, Jaylyn Jobe and Brayden Carie and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Jobe of Vincennes, IN, Patricia Parker-Zaikovsky of Terre Haute, IN and Pam Steininger of Vincennes, IN.
Funeral services will be conducted April 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Gravesite Honors will be presented by the All Weather Firing Squad. The family will receive friends Monday April 10, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or St. Joseph's Indian Children’s School.
