Obituary for Betty J. Dupire
Betty J. Dupire, 86, of Bicknell, IN, passed away Wednesday January 31, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Betty was born February 27, 1931 in Knox County the daughter of Albert B. and Effie Edwards Hill. She was a graduate of High School and formerly was assistant service manager at Montgomery Ward. She worked as a unit clerk in Pediatrics at the Good Samaritan Hospital for years. She was a member of Bicknell First Wesleyan church where she was active in various functions of the church. She held memberships in the Red Hat Society, the best years fellowship of Southern Indiana District Camp Ground, the Gospel Assn National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY. She married Frank Dupire Jr. on December 18, 1949 and they made their life together until his death in 2006. She formerly worked at the Wampler Shaw Funeral Home.
She is survived by Jean Sandefer of Bicknell, IN and Don Dupire, and his wife Debbie of Worthington, IN. Her grandchildren, Melissa Horton, Miranda Hostetter, Stephen C. Sandefer, Matthew Sandefer, Cody Mauder and Corey Mauder. Her great-grandchildren, Douglas Horton, Owen Horton, Tanner Sandefer, Caylee Sandefer, Ethan Sandefer, Hayden Sandefer, Ellie Sandefer, Ian Mauder, Lillian Mauder, Emmy Mauder and Beau Mauder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dupire Jr., a daughter Brenda Sue Hale, a granddaughter Melissa Sandefer, Son in Law, Steve Sandefer. She was the last surviving of 11 children, her 5 Brothers, Ernie Hill, Jim Hill, Steve Hill, Bill Hill and Elmer Hill and 5 sisters, Mildred Hayes, Beatrice Hill, Meryam Knight, Clista Crippen and Virgie Hill.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday February 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Rev. Mark Reed and Rev. Eddie Hayes officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Bicknell First Wesleyan Church. Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw is honored to assist the family during their time of loss.
