Mary Elizabeth Gordon, 84, formerly of Vincennes, passed away Monday March 25, 2024 at Brickyard Healthcare in Petersburg, IN with her family at her bedside. Mary was born June 6, 1939 in Salem, MA the daughter of John Martin and Blanche Malloy Doyle. She was a graduate of St. John Catholic High School in Peabody, MA and she began her career as a secretary at General Electric. Through hard work, she was promoted to the Human Resources Department, through her work there; she met her husband, William D. Gordon Sr., who was a graduate of Notre Dame in chemical engineering, and worked for General Electric. They made their life together until his death in 1997. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her interests were anything to do with her family, Big Band Music, the ocean specifically the east coast, loved cats, loved to laugh. She loved sports, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, Notre Dame Football and the Indianapolis Colts (just because her son liked them, and the Cowboys, not really, just because her grandchildren liked them). Her favorite movie was, Wizard of OZ and the song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Mary is survived by her children, Susan Gordon of Jasper, IN and William D. Gordon Jr., and his wife Carolyn of Vincennes, IN. Her beloved grandchildren, Bryan (Abby) Frederick, Katy (Brandon) Deel, Charlie Frederick, Gracie Frederick, Gus Gordon, Rebekah Grove, Dylan Brown and Breanna Brown.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Monday April 1, 2024 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to the time of services at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children Hospital. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Gordon family during their time of loss.
