Harold Paul Schlomer, 85, of Bicknell, Indiana, passed away on June 26, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on December 26, 1938, in Vincennes, Indiana, Harold led a life filled with dedication, love, and passion for the outdoors. A proud veteran of the US Air Force, Harold served his country with honor. On November 15, 1958 he married Rosemary Memering and they made their life together for 65 years. After his military service, he enjoyed a successful career at PSI, from which he retired in 1996. Retirement allowed Harold to fully embrace his love for gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and all things outdoors. These hobbies brought him great joy and fulfillment. Harold held a deep Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Phillip Neri in Bicknell. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing strength in times of need.
Harold’s greatest achievement and source of pride was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary, and his four children: Raymond (Patricia) Schlomer, Susan (Doug) Waltrip, Rodney (Annie) Schlomer, and Shannon (Stacy)Earhart. He also leaves behind his brother and sisters: Cletus (Gail)Schlomer, Mary Ruth Barmes, and Dorothy Sievers, as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who will all cherish his memory.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Joseph Schlomer, and his siblings: James B. Schlomer, William L. Schlomer, Tom Schlomer, Ralph Schlomer, C.E. Schlomer, George Schlomer, Rosina Madison, Helen Bennet, Cecilia Yochum, and Sister Mary Daniel Schlomer.
Harold will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love for family, faith, and the outdoors will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Vincennes, IN. The family will receive friends on Sunday June 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel, in Bicknell, IN and 1 hour prior to the service at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 PM Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Philip Neri Parish Hall Fund. Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel is honored to assist the Schlomer family during their time of loss.
