Obituary for Moorman O. “Mona” Smith
Moorman O. “Mona” Hensley Elder Smith, 86, of Vincennes, passed at the home of her daughter Monday afternoon with her family at her bedside. Mona was born September 14, 1932 in Bolivar, TN the daughter of Moorman and Mary Erma Irwin Hensley. She was a graduate of Grand Junction High School. She worked for nearly 31 years at Johnson Controls in Vincennes and was a member of the Baptist faith. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Mona Lisa Moore of Grand Valley, MO, Nancy Marie Kimmel and Mike Tabler of Vincennes, IN, Candy Sue Blann, and her husband Dave of Lawrenceville, IL, Cathy Woodward of Lawrenceville, IL, Ralph Waldo Elder Jr, and his wife Cindy of Lawrence, IN and Corrine Yvonne Burton, and her husband Don of Vincennes, IN. Her grandchildren, Jay Estes, David Case Jr, Susan Tackett Pennell, Jerry Wayne “JJ” Beard Jr., Larry Joe Willis Jr., Billy Joe Crouse, Michelle Lynn Crouse, Shawn Patrick Crouse, George William Woodward Jr., April Marie Woodward, Dale William Elder, Jeniffer Marie Elder, Leah Dawn Burton, Bailey Jane Burton, Casey Yvonne Harlan, Brandon Blann, Barbie Blann, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A sister, Jean Robbins of Memphis, TN also survives.
Mona was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Waldo Elder Sr. and Dale G. Smith, a daughter, Betty Patricia Burgess, a granddaughter, Heather Renee Tackett, her parents, 4 brothers, Ulysses Hensley, Leon Hensley, Paul Hensley, Warren Hensley and a sister Mary Jones.
Gravesite services will be conducted Friday November 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Ralph Waldo Elder Sr. in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist the family during their time of loss.
