Elizabeth “Betty“ Rusch, of Vincennes passed away January 21, 2019 at the GentleCare Nursing Center with her family at her bedside. She was born November 9, 1929 in Vincennes the daughter of Emmett and Magdelena Kaiser Keller. She was a 1947 graduate of Decker High School and she married Louis E. Rusch on January 13, 1951 and they made their life together for over 63 years until his death on March 18, 2014. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, St. Thomas Altar society, Wabash Homemakers and the K of C Auxiliary. She was inducted into the Brute Society for her dedication to her faith and church.
She is survived by her children, Linda McHargue, and her husband Chuck of Avon, IN, Karen Franklin, and her husband John of Cadiz, KY and Janet Houchin, and her husband Doug of Monroe City, IN., Larry Rusch, and his wife Jerri of Vincennes, IN and Debbie Rusch of Vincennes, IN her daughter-in-law. Her grandchildren, Maggie McHargue, Martina Buher (Zac), Kelly Miller (Garrett), Keary Wilson (Mike), Matthew Houchin (Kelsey), Alex Rusch, Adrianne Rusch, Auggie Rusch, Teresa Haggard (Adam), Amber Wirth, Sean Wirth (Sara), Katie Jackson (Holden), Louie Rusch and Jill O’Neill (Gene). Her Great-Grandchildren, Landon Buher, Charlee Buher, Mya Miller, Cooper Miller, Clare Wilson, Jake Wilson, Tyler Haggard, Jacie Haggard, Andrew Haggard, Tristan Wirth, Taleigha Wirth, Tanaya Wirth, Jaxon Wirth, Ella Wirth, Maebry Wirth, Connor O’Neill, Finnegan O’Neill, Anya O’Neill, Tatum Houchin and Emma Lou Jackson. 2 great-great grandsons, Aiden and Owen Haggard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Rusch Sr. two sons, Louis Rusch Jr and Timothy Rusch, 2 grandchildren, a great grandson, her parents, 3 brothers, Francis Keller, Louis Keller and Meinrad Keller, and three sisters, Clara Marchino, Evelyn Rodak and Loretta Edmondson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday at the St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. Simon Natha, Deacon Earl Ruppel and Deacon Cletus Yochum officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the St. Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends on at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the St. Thomas Cemetery Endowment Fund.
