Obituary for Wilma Stephan
Wilma Stephan, 84, formerly of Vincennes, IN, passed away on July 24, 2019 in her home town of Alzey, Germany. Wilma was born February 5, 1935 in Alzey, Germany the daughter of Otto and Wilhelmine Kern Stephan. She married Ronald Chanley in Germany and came to the United States. She was a seamstress, tailor and worked as a cook in various restaurants and nursing homes in the area. She was a member of the Lutheran faith. Wilma had a daughter, Gabrielle, who married Donald Wheatley and Gabby preceded Wilma on April 15, 1996. Wilma returned to Alzey, Germany in 2014 to be with her family there.
She is survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 4 brothers in Germany, Hans, Erich, Adolf and Gerhard Stephan,
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gabrielle “Gabby” Wheatley, her parents, 2 brothers and a sister.
Gravesite services will be conducted on Tuesday September 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Calvary cemetery. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Wilma’s family during their time of loss
