Obituary

Obituary for Ronald W. Slater Ronald W. Slater, 75, of Owensville, IN, passed away Sunday April 15, 2018 at 7:35 PM at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Ron was born November 14, 1942 in Vincennes, IN the son of Albert Slater and LouVon Beard Thompson. He was a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School and was an avid musician playing the drums for several groups. He also enjoyed playing with several artists on recording's released nationally. He also sang lead vocalist in the bands. He loved baseball, St. Louis Cardinal's of course and he spent many a game with his grandson Alan Schulze analyzing the stats of the games. He enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He worked for 37 years for PSI/Duke Energy retiring as a Senior Chemical Operator. He married Mary Jane Meek on August 18, 1973 and they made their life together for 44 years. Ron is survived by his wife, Jane Slater, children, Dana Dougherty, and her husband John of North Vernon, IN, Tony Slater, and his wife Monica of Middletown, OH, Bobby Tester, and his wife Charity, of Bicknell, IN, Michelle Krueger, and her husband Andy of Columbus, IN, Jada Tworek, and her husband Keith of Trafalgar, IN, Kevin Hashman, and his wife Aretta of Columbus, IN, Tammy Lynch of Vincennes, IN, Robyn Coburn of Bicknell, IN and Teresa Elliott, and her husband Stacy of Bicknell, IN. He also survived by 27 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Martha Anne Meek of Vincennes, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents & a sister Donna Davis. Funeral services will be celebrated Friday April 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Scripture and reflections offered by Tessa Coburn. He will be laid to rest in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday April 19, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
